Most of my submissions to CGC were ungraded copies bought on eBay. It has been harder to find higher grade copies. All my signature series books were already graded so I didn't have that problem with those. With ungraded books you can run the range from 9.2 to 9.8. I think that CGC is fairly consistent but I always wince when a book comes out lower than a 9.6. Outwardly the books can look very nice but there are always defects that can knock down the grade.
My last sub to CGC is still waiting to be graded and it is a pre-screen of 60 books for 9.6 or better. Any book lower than 9.6 will be rejected and will not be encapsulated. I am crossing my fingers to getting more higher graded.

Wow that is really interesting. I am doing the same but my budget prevents me from being able to hit it hard like you have. I am looking to get all the buffy comics and comps published before 2000 in a 9.8. I have bought about 4 copies of every one and have maybe come up with two pieces that i think will grade out. I am not trying to be a snob, 9.6 is a very high grade book and I am not interested in selling. They are worth a lot to me so it's not about the money but a buffy 9.8 will regularly sell for $100 while the same book in a 9.6 could go for $35; 9.8's are rare and the cream of the crop. I am shooting for a cream collection but don't get me wrong, if i had a bigger budget i would definantly love some 9.6's.
I am super jealous and hope your next crop comes out good. Right now I am looking hard for a 1998 #1: 2nd printing photo cover, no 9.8's exist at the moment and i would love to have the only one, but if you get it first i wont cry ;~)

Well I happen to have 2 copies of the 2nd print at CGC in the pre-screen and I was pretty confident about them. If both pass the 9.6/9.8 grade, would you be interested? CGC is way behind in grading right now and my books have been there since September 2012. I am hoping to have them back by late February.

i'd be so greatful, u would be helping out a big fan, it would get a loving home. I'd only be interested in a 9.8 but would definantly appreciate it a lot. I will be checking your collection either way so we'll be in touch ;) I can't wait to see what you get back on this lot
