Turok Dinosaur Hunter #1 Regular Edition (1993 Valiant/ Signed by David Michelinie & Bob Layton)
Collection: Completely Stoned: My Turok Son of Stone/ Dinosaur Hunter Collection
When this first came out in 1993, it had a 1,750,000 print run and was the 6th best selling comic of the month (surpassed only by the 1st 5 installments of 'Reign of the Supermen'. Unfortunately its obvious that several of the books were purchased speculatively and languished in stores and are now found in $1 bargain bins. It's often said too that this particular issue either triggered or at the very least was indicative of the 90's speculator comics market crash.
This story line diverged from the original Dell/Gold Key series, with Turok now 'back to the future' in modern times fighting against genetically modified dinosaurs or so-called bionosaurs.
I have a handful of these signed by Bart Sears, which of course can't be certified signed by CGC. Hopefully I can send a nice copy to CBCS in the future on the assumption that they certify pre-signed books. In any event, I love owning a certified autographed copy by Michelinie & Layton.
