Avengers!

My first obsession in comics. The first comic I ever bought and loved was Avengers 102. I bought it on summer vacation while staying at Andy's Trout Farm in Dillard, Georgia when I was 11 years old. The Vision was the coolest thing ever and the mystery of Wonder Man and the Grim Reaper gave me a history it would take years for me to unveil. I was hooked on comics and hooked on the Avengers.

When I got back into serious collecting in 2007, it was the Avengers I went for. I put together a raw run of everything from 1-503 in a few months - it helped already having most everything from an extensive period of Copper Age collecting. That was when I realized how easy it was with ebay to build a set. It took just a few months. I then started looking at CGC slabs, first thinking they were crazy expensive but then dipping my toes into the pool and buying an Avengers 41 graded 9.0. When I looked closely at it, I realized just how aweful a lot of the books I bought looked. It wasn't long till I had bought 9.6 and 9.8 copies and looked at them closely and realized that I really liked the pristine, just-printed look of high grade books. And thus was born my goal of collecting the Avengers...ALL the Avengers... in high grade.

It took four years, countless hours of scouring the internet, submissions of dozens of issues where none had been previously graded, and too many expensive battles with pastimperfekt on ebay. It also made me some great friends, including pastimperfekt on ebay. Eventually, though, I did it. All but a handful of issues between 93 and 503 were 9.8s. Everything else was largely 9.6.

I ended up selling the entire collection as a lot after I realized that the collection was too big and too expensive to keep around. It helped that the bigger world of collecting had opened my eyes to the Golden Age and the more common books of the Silver, Bronze, Copper and Modern Ages started to pale in my eyes. It was a great ride, though, and one that I have doubts anyone else will ever even attempt.

I still collect 9.8 copies of the modern Avengers books and I kept scans of everything but have never posted them all before in a single place. So I expect this is the most comprehensive set of original scans of the entire run of Avengers anywhere on earth. I hope you enjoy them.

Posting all these will be a long slog. Not counting duplicates, there are over 560 issues in the series. With duplicates, it is over 700 scans.
